Saint Thomas Aquinas
Saint Thomas Aquinas was born in 1225 in Lombardy, Italy. In his
life he was a philosopher and theologian, being most famous for combining the
theological principles of the Catholic faith and the philosophical principles of
reason together. Before he was born, his mother was foretold by a holy hermit
that her son was to become a great learner and be very holy; and with that,
Thomas Aquinas was sent to the Abbey of Monte Cassino to train among the
Benedictine monks at only five years old. Throughout the years in his when he
went into different Universities, he studied mainly great philosophers, such as
Aristotle. But, Thomas Aquinas was also drawn to people who emphasized the
religious life. He was able to create reason that philosophers do within the
morals of the faith and the faith itself, being fully devoted to the Catholic
faith. He wrote great amount of books about his philosophies and discoveries
about reason and faith and become one of the most brilliant philosophers of his
time. On March 7, 1274, Aquinas died at the Cistercian monastery of Fossanova,
Italy.

Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in Domrémy, Bar, France. As a child,
she had a connection with the saints and would communicate with them. Her
characteristics were remarkable at such a young age having mental and physical
courage. Having a vision from The Virgin Mary to join the army because France
was in peril and at 16, she applied for to join the army and was at first
rejected. A year later, she returned and received several of her own military
men. With her increasing amount of battles won with her remarkable strategy,
she soon led the French army into many battle of war, saving all of France.
